Hi!
Been a while since I been on my Tribe account, posting stuff. But I figured this would be the group to talk about t his.
Recently here in miami, the South Beach Resturant "Sushi Samba" (sushisamba.com) has turned their Wasabi Tuesday night party has been turned into "Cosplay Tuesday"
People are welcome to come dressed up and can win $250 bucks for voted best cosplay.
My friend and I went from the 1st party and went in costume each time. I won once, she won once and because I am a dancer-I got offered a job there!
(how cool is it that my paycheck lists me as a "Cosplay dancer"??!!)
We were even on Tv! (Deco Drive, channel 7 news)
Anyway, the point is-anyone else know of any parties around them like this? Any cosplay get togethers, anything other than Cons.
I find it to be a phenomenon unique to cities like Miami or NYC that would be bold enough to throw such a party even though not everyone would know what Cosplay is.
I think it helps the Cosplay community in the way that more people might actually begin to understand how wonderful cosplay can be.
Downside? Prolly that people are running around in maybe not Cosplay-esq costumes and calling themselves Cosplayers.
What do you guys think?
